The phone option is only if you have register it already on another computer and then have to re-install on another computer but both have to have internet access.

I downloaded it using a different computer. If that is the case, I will return it and use another product that does NOT require your computer to be connect to the internet to use. Also, what is Microsoft thinking with requiring net access? At that point would not someone choose another less expensive option? Bad decision in my books. Sound like an opportunity for someone to release a replacement for Microsoft Office.

Especially, we all the compromises in the news. If you do not have a product key then it should be a click to run versions of Office, for which you will have to have a Microsoft account. I will have to recommend that Microsoft Office no longer be used going forward as we need a product that can be used in offline at all times. I\’m not sure if you have already resolved this, but if not, I found a solution to this problem today. To get the \”Activate over the phone\” dialog that I was familiar with from previous versions of Office, you have to run one of the office apps with elevated privileges.

In other words, right click on the icon and chose \”run as administrator\”, then click on the yes button. After doing this, you get the dialog which prompts you to activate over the phone and gives you a long installation ID to type in. Everyone from India says that it will not work without the internet.

I registered the product to my office account and then attempted to find a way to \”activate over the phone\” I installed the office to the computer that does not have connection, then put in my registration code, but this attempt still lead me to the activate online. I even attempted to start the program with elevated permissions. Nothing is working. If I can not get this to work I will not longer be able to use MS period. That product key allows phone activation. Microsoft tech support told me they did not know about this workaround, which I found by chance, but it worked just fine.
